William Vincent Chapp (Bill), age 83, died peacefully at home in Prescott, AZ on June 21, 2012. He was born on January 11, 1929 in Newark, NJ, the only child of Anthony and Agnes Chapp, who preceded him in death. Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1950. He did graduate work at Stevens Institute and at Harvard University. Bill joined the New Jersey National Guard in 1953 where he achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer W-3. Bill was hired as an engineer by the US Postal Service in Washington, DC in 1958 and relocated his family to Silver Spring, MD. He rose through the ranks, had a three year assignment in California, and became US Assistant Postmaster General in charge of Engineering and Mechanization. After he retired from the Postal Service in 1987, he was a consultant for several companies in Virginia and Pennsylvania. After retiring from consulting work, he and his wife lived in Virginia, Florida, and Arizona. While in Florida, Bill served on several Condominium Boards, was Commodore of the Cocoa Beach Boating Club, and was a member of the Cocoa Beach Board of Adjustments. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2006 and to Prescott, AZ in 2009. Bill is survived by Sophie Barbara Chapp, his beloved wife of 60 years, his daughters Barbara (William) Driscoll, Susan (James) Wright, Patricia (Allen) Peterson, son William (Diane) Chapp, Jr., his grandchildren Andrew, Ryan, Jennifer, Paul, Gregory, and Michael, sister-in-law Stella Downey, brother-in-law Frank Liskowicz, and many loving nieces and nephews. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He loved traveling, boating, dancing, theater, movies, and socializing with friends. He was an accomplished man who encouraged people to pursue their dreams and had a keen sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave, Prescott, AZ on Friday, June 29 at 11:00 AM.
