Wanda Ray Jones Norton Duke

Wanda Ray Jones Norton Duke, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband, James R. Duke and children. Wanda was born to Verner Ray and Floy Beatrice Jones in Portales, N.M. She was raised in New Mexico, and five days after graduating from high school married Douglas Norton. They were married for 28 years and had three daughters: Debbie (Rock Goodman), Vicki (Greg Hulet) and Denise (Robert Cummings). They were later divorced. She married James R. Duke in 1984 and they were married for 28 years. She was step-mother to Doug, Darrell (Laurie), Dwayne, Steve (Sherri), and Dorothy (Lee Curtis). Together Wanda and Jim have 30 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Scooter and step son Doug. At a young age she was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in numerous church organizations. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a true follower. Wanda had a great sense of humor, which was passed on to her daughters! We loved her wit, her love and devotion to her family, but seriously - her cooking could have used a little help! Wanda loved living in Prescott and her final resting place will be at the IOOF cemetery next to her parents.
