On Saturday, November 7, our beloved mother Wanda Gene Kimbro, 87, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born November 21, 1927, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Donald Allen and Oral Gene (Becker) Harrison.
Most of Wanda's early years were spent in Illinois near her parents’ families. In 1944, at the age of 16, she graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She immediately went to work as a secretary at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. In 1949 she moved to Phoenix with her family.
Wanda married James Ray Kimbro on May 12, 1951. She was a full-time wife and mother until 1967 when she returned to work as an assistant to the principal's secretary at Alhambra High School. She was employed as a secretary in other offices in the Phoenix area until her retirement in 1989. Jim and Wanda retired and moved to Prescott in 1990 where they enjoyed many happy years together.
Wanda loved her Lord Jesus and spent much of her time faithfully serving Him in various ways at both Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix and First Baptist Church in Prescott.
She is survived by her daughter Janice Kimbro of Prescott Valley; her son James Jr. (Janet) Kimbro of Visalia, California; her grandchildren Alyson, Kyle, and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years James, her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Norma.
