Vernon E. Dvorak, age 80, of Prescott, Ariz., formally of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at the Pleasant Valley Adult Care Home in Prescott. Vernon was united in marriage to Janet Kayser on Oct. 13, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Walker. Vernon was born in Urbana, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1933 to Jesse and Emma (Koutny) Dvorak. He was raised on the family farm near Walker, which he and his wife farmed until 1979, and then moved to Prescott due to health reasons. Vernon was a member of Sacred Heart Parrish in Prescott. Vernon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet; his son David (Rosemary) Dvorak; stepdaughter Kaitlin Bell and step-granddaughter Madilynn Rose; sister Evelyn (Cecil) Oldridge; brother Wayne (Tedi) Dvorak; brother-in-law Richard (Marlys) Kayser; nephews George (Kathy) Oldridge, Steve Oldridge and niece Wendi Glass. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Henrietta Skallerup and Darlene Sullivan, and brother Arthur. The family would especially like to thank the caregivers at Pleasant Valley for their loving care of Vernon.
