Walt died on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Northern Arizona VA Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. He was born in 1923 in Hopelawn, N.J., the son of Andrew Nikovics and Rose Waldraf. Walt was 87 years old.He is survived by his wife, Lucy; they celebrated 59 years in marriage. He was one of 12 children, of which all are deceased except his sister, Ceil, Mrs. Anthony Dziura. There are a great number of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He dearly loved them all and always looked forward to the many celebrations and family get-togethers that were held in one form or another. He was very much loved and will be missed.He proudly served his country during World War II and was a member of the 2nd Armored Division, 14th Field Artillery "Hell on Wheels," which landed on Omaha Beach, D-Day plus three. He saw service in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaign.
