Vangeline Herberg, a long time resident of Prescott, Arizona passed away on Saturday, 13 May 2006. She was born on 11 November 1925 in Blaine, Washington and at an early age moved to Fairfield, CA.where she fell in love and married her husband of the next 58 years, John, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on 30 Nov. 1947.    A proud and dedicated wife of a career Air Force officer, she accompanied her husband to his numerous assignments, in the States and abroad, until his 30 year retirement from active military duty in 1972. She realized her life long dream of travel by train and plane to parts unknown, and found a kindred spirit in her husband for wanderlust adventure. She was honorary President of the Officers Wives Club and Advisor to the NCO Wives at Goose Bay AFB, Labrador, Canada and Homestead AFB, FL. She also served as an officer of Beta Sigma Phi, Ladies Sorority Chapter, in Holyoke, MA.   Vangie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Costa Alameda, and her five brothers, Ernie, John, Manuel, Anthony , and Joseph.   Vangie was the beloved wife of John, devoted mother of Darby, James and Jeanne, the loving grandmother of Clayton, Lisa and Cassie. Her husband, children, grandchildren and sibling, Mary Philips and her husband, Henry, many nieces and nephews, son-in-law Rick and daughter-in-law Lorie, and many dear friends survive her. She was beloved by all who knew her for her gaiety of spirit, spontaneous laughter, and selfless devotion to her family, always with a loving heart. She gave from her heart, was unflagging in her  generosity, and was always there when we needed her. She will be greatly missed     A Celebration of Vangie?s life will be  at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006 at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral home corner of Cortez and Carleton with visitation one hour prior; followed a luncheon will follow the services in the Carriage House on the funeral home grounds. Memorial service and Final Commendation will be at 10:40a.m., Friday, May, 19 at the  Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.   You are invited to sign Vangie?s guest book and view a tribute in her honor at www:\ruffnerwakelin.com
