Thomas P. Brockett, III, 80, passed away on Nov 24, Thanksgiving Day, after a prolonged illness. Tom was a Past Master of Aztlan Lodge, #1, F & AM and a Past Patron of Golden Rule #1, Order of Eastern Star. He, along with his wife Vicki, thoroughly enjoyed participating in these organizations and was proud to say that the Masonic Orders made good men better. Tom was born on Oct 29, 1931 in Goldsboro, N.C. to Kathleen (Weldon) and Thomas P Brockett, Jr. After his father passed away his mother married William Hanger, who Tom considered his father. While Mr. Hanger was in the Marines, they traveled across the U.S. several times, which Tom enjoyed very much. After high school, Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps and served honorably for many years. He particularly remembered fighting in Korea and how cold it was. He never liked cold weather after that. In 1958, Tom married Ora Lee Brockett and had 4 children together; Kathleen, Helen, Troyellen and Michael. He was preceded in death by two of his children Helen in Nov. 2007 and Michael in Sept. 2011. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Kral of Prescott Valley, his two remaining children, Kathleen (Bruce) Baldwin and Troyellen Daniels, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Nunnally, William Atkins and Gabriel Daniels and his long-time friend, Ora Lee Brockett, all of Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held at Aztlan Lodge, #1, 1028 Willow Creek, Rd, Prescott, on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 1:30 PM (entrance behind B of A building on the second floor). One of the activities that Tom particularly enjoyed was Bikes for Books which awards children in local schools for reading by giving away one boys and one girls bike yearly. Family suggests donations be made in Toms name to Aztlan Lodge #1 (address above), with a memo Bikes for Books.
