Steven Matthew Irwin, 46, of Prescott Valley, passed away on July 29, 2023, unexpectedly after a short illness.


Steven was born on June 3, 1977, to Steve Michael Irwin and Kim Sue Shearer Irwin at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Raised in the military, he traveled to Florida, Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma, and Germany before finding his home in the Prescott area in 1990. After Steven graduated from Chino Valley High School in 1996, he was married for a short time and joined the United States Army in 1996.


He served as a field artillery serviceman in Fort Sill, Soul Korea, and Fort Hood until his honorable discharge in 1999.


After discharge, he worked many years in the tire management at the Prescott Costco. He continued his career in Des Moines, Iowa for a time before returning to Prescott to join the family business of real estate in 2010.


In 2005, Steven met his life’s love, Amanda Suzanne Quinn in Des Moines, Iowa. Steven and Amanda went on to have 2 sons, Rex Matthew Allen and Daxton Michael Irwin.


Steven spent his younger years playing all sports but excelling in football and wrestling. He was a Nascar and football enthusiast, but nothing made him happier than cheering on his sons in their endeavors. His greatest joy came in loving, protecting, and spending time with his family.


Steven was predeceased by his grandparents. He is survived by his loving parents, sister, life partner, and his sons who will let him rest today for when they see him again, they will never let him go.


A Memorial Service will be held at the Prescott National Cemetery on August 25, 2023, at 10 am. After the inurnment ceremony, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering with location to be announced.
