Shirley "Bill" William Ennis

Shirley William (Bill) Ennis passed away peacefully January 4, 2020 at his home in Prescott Valley, Az where he was surround by his wife and family.Shirley was born September 2, 1937 in Eclectic, Alabama to James Clinton Ennis and Dorris Ennis. He enlisted in the United States Air Force January 5, 1956 and was stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Washington. He served during the Korean War and spent time in Japan.  He was honorably discharged January 23, 1963.  He returned to his home state of Alabama and began working for Coca-Cola. Years later, he moved to California where he found his calling at Sears as a service repairman and met the love of his life, Sara.  Bill and Sara married on August 7, 1971 in Carson City, NV.  Throughout their 48 years of marriage they moved several times then eventually found their home in Prescott Valley, AZ. In Bill’s early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing,  camping and skeet shooting. Later in life he became a collector of many things including old Coca-Cola bottles, clocks,  rocks and petrified wood. In the last few years his hobby was buying penny rolls from the bank and looking for old dated coins.  Playing  cards and Yahtzee were also pastimes as well as just taking drive out in the desert. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorris Ennis, 5 siblings, Lamar Ennis, Gene Ennis, Carolyn Latham, Betty Estes and Tony Ennis, and grandson Curtis Gassaway.  He is survived by his wife Sara, 3 children, Cathie (Kenny), Pam (Dave), and Curtis (Amy); 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. After the death of his wife, they will be reunited at the Fairview Cemetery in Superior, Az. At that time Bill will be laid to rest with Military Funeral Honors.  A private celebration of life will be held on January 25, 2020 at his home in Prescott Valley.  Arrangements Entrusted to Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes and Crematory.
