Sharon C. Schmidt

Sharon Trautman Schmidt age 71 has completed the journey to her eternal home. She was a communicant of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Chino Valley, Az. Sharon an only child, was born at Fort Lewis, Wa. To Frank W. And Suzanne (Sabol) Trautman. She is now united with her parents and youngest daughter Wendy (Schmidt) Chapp who, on 1/2/07 succumbed to treatment for Leukemia. Survivors are her husband of 49 years, Donald Schmidt, her daughters Leah (Schmidt) Casabonne of Chino Valley, Az. and Karyn Schmidt of Issaquah, Wa. From the northwest she leaves behind her cousins, Theresa (Hiott) Smith, Janice (Hess) Weger, Ron Hiott and Linda (Trautman) Seeliger, as well as her uncles Robert Welch and Stan Hiott. From NY she is survived by her three nieces Lori (Marinacci) Peluso, Jodi (Marinacci) Gutierrez, and Boni (Marinacci) Gizzi. They were a great comfort to her at the time of her daughter's death. Their sister, Keri Marinnaci passed on 3/1/05. Sharon held close the memories of her childhood when she and her mother lived with her grandfather in Tacoma, Wa. Her aunts, uncles and cousins were a great family influence for her during the times when military duty stationed her father overseas. She was proud of his service and felt fortunate to have the experience of living in several states along the West Coast as well as Hawaii. After her marriage to Donald in 1961 they moved to NY where she retired from six years in federal civil service to be a stay at home mom. She spent most of her adult life in upstate NY until she and her husband moved to Prescott, Az in 2001. Sharon held strongly to traditional family values and was grateful for her faith in God, family and country. Art, music and laughter were her therapy and learning was her passion. Her experiences as a news reporter was instrumental in promoting public awareness in the use of medical radiation imaging and improved research for non toxic cancer treatment. In lieu of flowers her family would appreciate donations be made to Breast Cancer action. (BCA is a national grassroots organization who's mission is to inspire and compel the changes necessary to end the breast cancer epidemic. They recognize that fundamental social changes are necessary to accomplish their mission and are dedicated to organizing people to work toward those changes. BCA does not accept funding from any company that is profiting in any way from cancer, including pharmaceuticals and any other corporations).
