Ruby Alice Pogue-Dempsey -Tifft of Prescott, Arizona, passed from this life on September 16, 2019 in the presence of her husband, Bob, her step daughter, Judi and granddaughter, Marissa. Ruby is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert (Bob) Tifft, her son Steve Dempsey (Susan), daughter Mary Littlefair (Ken) stepdaughters, Judi (Robert), Laura (Danny) and their families. Ruby was a proud native of Arizona. Born on October 13, 1931 in Glendale, Arizona to Robbie and Beulah Pogue, Ruby grew up on the family farm in Tolleson. She was the last surviving Pogue child. Ruby entered the workforce right after high school and quickly rose to managerial positions in the variety of different careers she had through the course of her lifetime. One of her favorite jobs was being the first woman teletype operator and station manager for the Western Pacific Railroad in California. She worked for a number of years as Office Manager for Keenan Pipe and Supply in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to retirement, Ruby and Bob owned Red Barn Machine in Cortez, Colorado which manufactured helicopter maintenance tools for worldwide shipment. Ruby was the face of the company while Bob was the hands. Ruby had a reputation worldwide to those in helicopter maintenance as the woman to talk to if you needed a tool for a job. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Sedona Community Cemetery 199 Pine Dr., Sedona, AZ 86336.
