Rosemary B. O’Driscoll, 1930-2021Daughter of Alice Blanche Anderson and John Hoy Brown Jr, Rosey passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 at the age of 90 years old in Prescott Valley Arizona. Rosey was born in Washington D.C. and at an early age moved to Hyattsville Maryland with her parents and five siblings: Alice Jean (Perrigo); John Hoy III; Katherine (Wallace); Wilma (Kirchner) and Kenneth. Rosey spent her early years in Hyattsville and her life changed significantly when her father died in 1937. Her mother went to work at the federal government six days a week as a single parent to support her six children. It was a difficult time for the Brownies as they were known in the neighborhood. Rosey graduated from Hyattsville High School in 1947 and also went to work for the federal government as an administrative assistant at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. She had a wide range of friends including country singer Patsy Cline and her love of country music lasted a lifetime. In 1965 she made a courageous decision to move to California and transfer her job to San Diego, CA. Along with her sister Wilma and her small son, they packed her bags, put the top down on the convertible and drove cross-country. It was there she met her husband Jim O’Driscoll and married him in 1975. Rosey and Jim retired to Tucson where they fostered Jim’s nieces Linda and Patty, eventually resettling in Prescott Valley, AZ. They also renewed family ties with Jim’s son Tom and wife Marla along with their three daughters. Upon Jim’s death in 2004, Rosey became an very active member of at St. Germaine’s Catholic Church, contributing to the new building fund and also through the Ladies Guild, she was especially appreciated for her crafts and baked goods. She loved cooking, country music, John Wayne films, her beloved Diamondbacks and her deaf cat Snowflake. She thoroughly enjoyed her ‘drive by’ 90th birthday celebration in August 2020 hosted by her friends and family. Her faith and her church sustained her during her last months. She loved her family and leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Nadine and Bill Pierce, a host of friends along with the caregivers Michelle and Wanda from Complete Family Care and most importantly the wonderful and loving team from Maggie’s Hospice in Prescott Valley most particularly Penny, Melissa and Sarah. Their presence was a blessing in her life.Memorial Mass: Friday, March 26th, 2021 at St. Germaine’s Catholic Church, Rosary at 11; Mass at noon. Social distancing/Masks are required.
