Roger Arthur Junkins, age 72 of Prescott, Arizona, lost his battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.  He was born January 4, 1944 to Roy Arthur and Dorothy Lucille (McVeigh) Junkins in Keokuk, Iowa.  After growing up in Montrose, Iowa and Wyaconda, Missouri, Roger moved to Chino Valley, Arizona with his family in 1960.He was married to his childhood sweetheart Janet Raylene Morrow on June 3, 1962 in Chino Valley, Arizona. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this June 3rd.Roger graduated from Prescott High School in 1962 and has resided in the Prescott area ever since.  He was a machinist for many years working at Emerson Electric, U. S. Motors, Telian Manufacturing and Hi-Arc Manufacturing.  He also taught part time in the Yavapai College Gunsmithing Program.Roger was an avid hunter, fisherman and clay target shooter.  He was a life member of the Prescott Trap and Skeet Club serving as a board member, running Registered Trap Shoots and volunteering in the Scholastic Shooting Program. He was a life member of the Arizona State Trapshooting Association serving as a member of the State Board for several years.  He was also a Life Member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association having registered a total of 261,875 targets.  Roger won numerous trophies at local, state and national competitions.  He was also a member of the NRA and loved to hunt everything from rabbits, coyotes, to deer and elk.Roger and Raylene loved to tour the west in their RV with their great-granddaughter Brittany Carradine.  They made many trips to Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain, Mount Rushmore, Glacier and many other National Parks.Roger was predeceased by his son Timothy Roger Junkins; his father Roy Arthur Junkins; two sisters, Joyce Garcia and Jessie Moreno.  He is survived by his wife Raylene; mother Dorothy Junkins; brothers Phillip (Debara) and Michael (Diana) Junkins; granddaughter Kristen Carradine; great-granddaughter Brittany Carradine; sister-in-law Anita (Ernie) Broughton and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews.
