Robin R. Freeman

The world lost a wonderful husband, father and friend on January 23, 2023. Robin Freeman passed away at the age of 72 following a tragic accident.

Robin was born on November 5, 1950 to Robert and Nancy Freeman in Kokomo, Indiana. Growing up as the youngest of four boys, he quickly learned how to be a man by following the examples of his father and three brothers. He went to Eastern High School in Greentown, Indiana until he was 16, then moved to Anaheim, California where he graduated from Loara High School in 1968.

After High School, he joined the United States Navy and spent eight years protecting his country and fought in the Vietnam War on the USS Jouett. While in the military, Robin learned various aspects of telecommunications, which led to an amazing career and outstanding accomplishments in his field. When Robin was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, he continued to work in the telecommunications sector. After years of growing his talents, Robin became CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) #2887. This boosted his career to all new heights and Robin was known as one of the “go to” guys to help build and repair computer networks and phone systems. He was one of the initial talents to help bring about Voice over IP (VOIP) phone communications.

In 1971, Robin was blessed with his first child, a son, James, with his former wife, Pam. In 1975, he married his wife, Linda and his family grew even more. He was blessed with Daniel and Tamara, Linda’s children from her first marriage, Robin loved them and raised them as his own. Later, in 1979, Robin’s daughter, Rabecca, was born and he became the proud father of four. When he married Marty, his family grew even larger with the addition of Marty’s children, Grant, Amy, and Lindsey and all of their children who became his grandchildren.

Robin wasn’t just an incredibly intelligent man; he was also a loving husband and father.

Robin is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Marty. They were married in 2008. After retirement, Robin and Marty shared so many adventures, from their love fishing, reading books, camping, smoking meats, cooking together and hiking, Rob also had a passion for hunting, playing video games, and tinkering in the garage.

Robin was a sensitive man who had no problem showing his emotions, but he was also a strong man who guided others with his love and nurturing nature. He put others first and tried to help anyone who showed a need, be it physically or emotionally. Through the years his “family” grew by leaps and bounds bringing many friends into the fold with his compassion and love.

To know Robin, was to love him and he will be greatly missed by those near and far. Robin is predeceased by his mother and father, Nancy and Robert; his elder brother, David; his former wife, Linda; and his step-daughter, Amy. Robin is survived by his wife, Marty; his children, James and wife Kelly; Dan, and wife Erlene; Tamara, and husband Stephen; Rabecca, and husband Donavan; his step-children, Grant, Lindsey and husband Brett; his brothers Brooks and Jay and their families; and his 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren
