Bob was born in Chicago IL in 1947 to Horace and Thelma (Britt) Heck. He celebrated his 63rd birthday shortly before his death on December 3, 2010 with his family by his side after fighting a valiant battle against metastatic melanoma, living his life the way he wanted, despite his illness.
Bob joined the Marine Corps shortly after high school graduation in 1965, and served in the 1st Force Reconnaissance Company FMF PAC in Viet Nam. He then served as an MP until his Honorable Discharge in September 1968. He earned a National Defense Medal, a Vietnamese Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal during his service.
Upon his release from military service, Bob earned a Certificate in Forest Technology from the State University of NY, and worked for the US National Park Service for several years as a surveyor throughout the US. After settling in Prescott, AZ, Bob worked for the City of Prescott for 23 years, retiring as a Civil Engineer in the Public Works Department in March of 2003.
Bob was an avid softball player and outdoorsman, and over years developed his retirement hobbies of prospecting and hiking. He was a well respected member of any community in which he lived; and during retirement, served on the Prescott Valley Board of Adjustments including during the diagnosis and treatment of his illness.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Trish), brother Bill Papineau (Anne) with nephew Kyle, and sister Carol Houselog (Rick), niece and goddaughter Cassie and nephew, Ryne.

Celebration of Bob's life will be 12 noon, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Chapel of the Valley 2215 North 5th st, Prescott Valley (fain park), with military honors
