Robert Douglas Dougherty

Bob Robert D. Dougherty passed away at home in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was 67 years old. He was born in Long Beach, California on June 20, 1944.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Dougherty, and his mother, Cordelia Fay Dougherty. He is survived by siblings; Kathleen A. Laiblin, Michael W. Dougherty, and Theresa M. Luedy.
Bob served in the military from 1964-1968. He played for the Army baseball, softball, and basketball teams while serving in Korea. He once played in an exhibition baseball game in Tokyo Olympic Stadium in front of a crowd of more than 50,000. Bob loved sports, and was a loyal supporter of the Lakewood Lancers high school baseball program, as his wardrobe would attest.
Bob had a gruff exterior; hence his nick name Grumpy, but he had a warm and generous heart. When he made friends they became lifelong friends, and he endeavored to maintain contact regardless of his circumstances. He was a loyal and steadfast friend to those he cared about. He was loved by many, the final measure of a good soul.
His memorial will be held in Southern California , the time and location will be determined in the next few days.
