Richard William Eifert, 98, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of May 18, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ruffner-Wakelin Prescott Chapel, 303 South Cortez Street, Prescott, AZ, on June 14, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Committal Service will follow at the Prescott National Cemetery.Richard was born on a small family farm in Corning, Missouri to Ernst Frederick William Eifert and Johanna Martha Roth Eifert on November 26, 1919. He is preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters, his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Hill Eifert, his youngest step-son, Fenwick Hill Garvey, and his two grandchildren, Mark Glenwood Garvey and Ryman Glenmont Garvey.Richard earned his GED while serving as an Army radio operator during World War II; after his military service worked as a machinist, then joined Sandia Corporation, a major U.S. nuclear research facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He qualified as a staff engineer, serving on many highly-technical and sophisticated research programs. Following his retirement from Sandia, Richard and his wife Evelyn, moved to Arizona and lived in Prescott, Arizona until his wife’s death in 2006. During the past three years Richard lived at Alexandria House, a group home in Phoenix, Arizona. All family members wish to extend their gratitude to the home for the quality living environment they created for Richard until his passing.Richard is survived by his oldest step-son, Glenwood L. Garvey, his daughters-in-law Marya Ann Garvey, Anne Marie Garvey, and Nancy Garvey; five grandchildren; Scott Glenwood Garvey, Todd Glenwood Garvey, Fenwick Hill Garvey II, Kelly Gwin Higgins, and Ashlan Glenmont Garvey; and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army, 237 South Montezuma Street, Prescott, AZ 86301 in honor of Richard William EifertShare0ShareTweet0Pin0Share
