Pervy Roland Smith, died February 14, 2007 at Las Fluentes Care Center in Prescott, Arizona. He was born December 25, 1919 on a farm in Alabama.   He left the farm to join the CC?s in 1940. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict, where in found his love for heavy equipment. Upon returning home he went to work for the National Park Service at Big Bend National Park. He transferred to Grand Canyon National Park, in the late 1960?s where he raised his family. Pervy developed the majority of the trails and roads we enjoy through out the park today. A mile strip of road is named in his honor.   Pervy retired in December, 1982, and moved to Prescott, where he established his back-hoe business, which kept him busy for the next 25 years. He lived to work. He chartered the Prescott Evening Lions, and continued perfect attendance as a Lion for over 60 years. He enjoyed old cars and was known for his 1957 T-Bird and 1966 Mustang, which he rode in the 4th of July and Christmas parades, in Prescott. He was a faithful member of Willow Hills Baptist Church.    He is survived by his wife; Frances; sons: Stephen (Karen) and Samuel (Shannon), two sisters; 6 step-children; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grand children; 6 step children and 10 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.   In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Pervy's name be made to either; the Evenings Lions Club International or the Restricted Fund of Hospice of Yavapai Regional Medical Center, both of Prescott, Arizona.
