Paul Alfred Tessmer

Former Sacramento resident Paul A. Tessmer, 65, died June 3, 2021, with his wife by his side at his home in Prescott, Arizona.
Mr. Tessmer was born August 16, 1955, in Sacramento, CA, to Alfred and Grace Tessmer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol; daughters Melanie Moore, Alexandra Tessmer, Sarah Scharf and Amanda Vera, stepson Christopher Lockhart, his sister Gracie Lee Matthews, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his sisters, Kathy Hord and Helen Cunningham, and his brother Charlie Burres.
Paul was raised in Sacramento and enjoyed many summers with his cousins, nieces, and nephews, as he was closer to them in age. He married his first wife, Elizabeth Tessmer, when he was 20, and they were blessed with daughters Melanie and Alexandra. They were divorced after 13 years. He met Carol in 1995 at Gatlin’s, where they would listen to country music and participate in line dancing. They resided in Yuba City until 2005, when they moved to Lincoln. They moved to Prescott, AZ in 2019 and he experienced a record-breaking snowstorm this most recent winter. Having never shoveled snow, he thought it was great fun to dig out of two feet of it, but admitted if he never saw another storm like that again, it would be fine with him.
He loved car shows, particularly the Sacramento Autorama. He enjoyed gardening and would often volunteer to do neighbors’ yards, because he appreciated the beauty of nature around him. He and Carol traveled, and he particularly enjoyed trips to Cape Cod, Nashville, Catalina Island, Port Angeles, WA, and Vancouver, Canada. He loved God and studied his Bible on a regular basis.
Arrangements are with Ruffner-Wakelin Prescott Chapel. A scattering of his ashes in the San Francisco Bay Area will take place at a future date in time.
