Patrick Joseph Hernandez

Patrick J. Hernandez, 29, was born in Prescott, AZ, on September 11, 1982 to Jose Hernandez and Marie Carbajal. He lived in Bagdad, AZ until 2001 when he went to Flagstaff, AZ to attend NAU. Then Patrick returned to the Prescott area to attend Yavapai College in 2006 and currently was working at the Prescott Valley McDonald’s. Patrick died at the home of his mom and stepdad, Marie and James Carbajal, during his sleep. He was the valedictorian of the Bagdad High School Class of 2001. He was involved with the Golf Team, National Honor Society, Student Council Vice President, Varsity Club, Spanish Club, Basketball, and many others. Patrick was definitely involved with his Catholic Church in volunteering to be a lector, commentator, Eucharistic Minister, Minister of Care, Altar Server, and a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Jose Hernandez, Grandparents George and Millie Velonis, Grandmother Elena Hernandez, Aunt Helen Cotter, and Uncle Jesse Hernandez. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Marie and James Carbajal; brothers Jon and Adam Hernandez; Godmother Diane Velonis; half sister Mona Rae Jagoditsh; Grandfather Enrique Hernandez; step-brother James Carbajal; step-sisters Monica (Michael) Loveall, Lori (Semisi) Tuipulotu, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 6th at AZ Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home on the corner of Cortez and Carleton Streets in Prescott; a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. A Celebration of Patrick’s Life Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7th at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Chino Valley. Final Commendations will follow at 1:30 at Heritage Memory Gardens Cemetery in Dewey. Patrick’s family suggests memorial contributions be made in Patrick’s name to YEI, Prescott Special Olympics, or St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church.
