Patricia B. Proper died March 13, 2009. She was born June 22, 1939 in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of Otho and Alice (Byrne) Books. Pat was 69 years old. Pat graduated from Tucson High School in 1957 and Pepperdine College with a Bachelor of Science. Pat met the love of her life Lee while attending college and they where married May 25, 1962. Pat and Lee moved to Prescott in August of 1964. Pat was active in community having served for 28 years with Yavapai County Fair Association and a Board Member and Fair Committee member for 11 years; in 1980 she was ?Tuli-Hooma" (Red Rock) Chieftess of the Smoki People. Pat served on the Board of Directors for the Smoki Museum and Sharlot Hall Museum, and was a member of PEO Chapter O and Prescott United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being at the Grand Canyon hiking to Supai and riding a raft upon the Colorado. She was an creative person who loved cooking, crafts, jewlery making and beading. Pat enjoyed time spent doing genealogy research, communicating via the internet and socializing with friends. Pat was very proud to have been a descendant of the Arizona pioneer Byrne Family who settled in the Yuma area. Pat proudly pointed out to family and friends the Byrne name inscribed on the Bucky O'Neil statue at the courtyard square. Pat is survived by her husband, Lee; sons John and Stephen; daughter Catherine and four grandchildren. A Celebration of Pat?s life will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley Street.
