Nancy Elaine Hamilton Bronsdon was born January 10,1933 in Santa Maria, California and spent her early years in Porterville, California.
After high school, Nancy attended the University of Redlands and graduated with a baccalaureate degree in education, majoring in physical education. She accepted a teaching position at Colton High School, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Fred Bronsdon, a science and math teacher. They were married on August 10, 1957.
Fred and Nancy moved to Downey, California in 1960 where they resided for the next 30 years. Nancy taught at Downey High School and was a favorite among her students. Many referred to her as “Mrs. B” or “Beasly.” In 1972, she was awarded "Teacher of the Year.” Nancy was inclusive before it was mandatory and would adapt equipment for students of different abilities to level the playing field. She also was the only teacher to become proficient in sign language when Downey High School was first integrated with a deaf school.
In 1990, Fred and Nancy retired to beautiful Prescott, Arizona, and they quickly made lifelong friendships. They both had a strong Christian faith and were committed prayer warriors who prayed nightly for many individuals and organizations. Nancy served on the prayer team at her church and participated weekly in the Prescott High School Prayer Meeting.
Nancy was a generous person with her time and resources, embracing the needs of others. Her volunteer service included: the Prescott Public Library, Keep Prescott Beautiful, Sharlot Hall Museum, and Prescott Community Church. In addition to volunteer work, Nancy was known for her love of wildlife, sense of community, dry sense of humor, and zipping around in her green VW bug. Additionally, she was something of a dog whisperer, and she never met a dog who didn't love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Pauline Hamilton, husband Frederick Bronsdon, Jr., brother Richard Hamilton and his wife Maureen, and brother-in-law Robert Bronsdon and his wife Jean. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Melanie Hamilton, Karen Prather, and Cameron (Chris) Hamilton, Jon Bronsdon (Cathy Whitehouse), Lynn (Rex) Cattanach and Jennifer Bronsdon, a beloved cousin, Betty Bluekle, as well as several great and great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her neighborhood “family" who she called her "God Squad," Beverly Bigler and Kurt and Patty Hardy.
Memorials may be made in Nancy Bronsdon's name to Food for the Hungry, Prescott Community Church, Sharlot Hall Museum or a charity of your choice.
