Michael Lopez passed from this earth on December 23, 2012 at his home in Prescott Valley, with his wife and stepdaughter by his side. Michael was born December 18, 1935 in The Bronx, N.Y. Mike was preceded in death by his dad Michael, younger brother Richard, and his mom Theresa. He leaves behind his wife of many years, Emma. His beloved stepdaughter Debbie, his stepson John, his very special grandson Brandon, his stepson’s young twin children Patrick and Colleen, his sister-in-law Alda, and his nephews Richard and his family, nieces Lisa and Nicole and their families. In his late 30’s Michael trained for the career that would keep him happy for the remainder of his working years. He began his career in an institution in Rhode Island, working with severely physical and mentally disabled children. He remained in that position until he and his spouse, Emma, became managers of a residential facility for mentally challenged adults for 22 years in Long Island, N.Y. Michael thoroughly enjoyed his retirement home and many friends and neighbors, and playing pool in Victorian Estate’s Clubhouse. Mike was extremely proud of his family and had a special place in his heart for each member. He called his stepdaughter Debbie, “My Private Nurse”. Mike helped raise his grandson Brandon, he was known by Patrick and Colleen as “Poppy” The family sincerely wishes to thank and acknowledge Mike’s PCP Dr. William DeVito for his exceptional care and dedication during Mike’s illness. The services provided by the Hospice Family Care Agency were professional, comforting, and very caring. You will be loved and missed forever my love, by those who knew what a wonderful and special man you were.
