Michael Lee Geer

Michael Lee Geer, age 70, died in Prescott, Arizona at the VA Hospice on Friday, September 8, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer. June 18, 1936 was a beautiful day because Mike Geer was born in Marion, Ohio. Today we celebrate his life as he goes home on angels? wings and with the love of friends and family. Mike graduated from Harding High School in Marion, Ohio and went on to attend Ohio State University. Mike served his country honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and later traveled the world as a Director of Southeast Asia for Allied Signal. In 1962 Mike was united in marriage to Geneva (Jan) Birchfield. In 2002, Mike and Jan moved to Prescott, Arizona. Mike loved boating and building homes and telling stories. Perhaps Mike?s favorite pastime was meeting people. Mike made friends with people of every walk of life and never met a stranger. Mike is survived by his wife, Jan, his mother, Pauline Geer of Marion, Ohio, and his children Debra Geer Locklear, Steve Ness, Michael Ray Geer, Kathy Geer Linder and Kirk Allen Geer. He is further survived by his brother Lou Geer, sister Brenda Geer Pollock and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mike was pre-deceased by Clair Geer, his father and Ronald Geer his brother. A military memorial service for Mike Geer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 at the Veterans Affairs Chapel, 500 Highway 89 North in Prescott, Arizona. Friends and relatives are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in his name for the VA Hospice program (VA Hospice, 500 Hwy. 89 North, Prescott, AZ 86313, Attention: Bette Robbins). The Geer Family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of the VA Hospice for the loving care and support they provided Mike and his family during his last days. We don?t cry because Mike is gone, we smile because of our memories of how he touched our lives.
