Matthew “Matt” Flaherty, 78, of Prescott, AZ, passed away February 26, 2012 in Prescott, AZ. He was born May 24, 1933 in Boston, MA to John J. Flaherty and Barbara E. Connelly. Matt was a United States Marine who proudly served his country and was a Disabled Veteran of the Korean War. Matt worked as a senior computer analyst for Polaroid in Massachusetts before he retired to Arizona to spend time with his bride, Carol. Matt is survived by his wife Carol of Prescott; daughter Laurie Doescher and her husband Dick of New River; sons Matthew Flaherty of Massachusetts, and Timothy Flaherty and his wife Tori of New York; stepdaughters Paula Taylor of Rhode Island and Kathleen Mulligan of Massachusetts; stepson John Mulligan of Massachusetts; his sister Barbara McDonald and her husband Ed of Massachusetts; brothers John Flaherty of Massachusetts, William Flaherty and his wife Barbara of Florida, and Michael Flaherty and his wife Mary of Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his sister May Brady and her late husband Tom of Massachusetts. He was the loving grandfather of Rosalie Doescher of New River, Kenneth Doescher of Buckeye, and Anna and Patrick Flaherty of New York. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Matt also leaves behind his faithful companion Gonzo, their Italian Greyhound. A memorial service for Matt is scheduled for Friday, April 6, 2012 at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA with the service to begin at 12:30 pm.
