Mary Regina (Mary Jean) Marnell, age 90, died peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2007. A 43-year resident of Prescott, she was the daughter of George and Mary Roskob of Parsons, Kansas. A wonderful homemaker to her family of seven, Mary Jean was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and the Claret Club. She volunteered her time at the Yavapai Guidance Clinic thrift store for more than 20 years and later with the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Mary Jean was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She highly valued family tradition and passed on her love for food and celebration to her children. She enjoyed and supported all the Sacred Heart Church and school activities of her children, and encouraged her three sons to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. After Verl?s retirement from the Prescott Veteran?s Administration Hospital in 1978, they traveled the U.S. extensively, seeing most all of the 50 states, including Hawaii. She had lots of friends and never missed an opportunity to play bridge. Survivors include her children; George and Kathy (Rowley) Marnell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Rob and Terri (Thomas) Marnell of Casper, Wyoming; Jim and Jill (Fulkerson) Marnell of Prescott, Arizona; Martha Marnell of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Mary Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Verl, in 1998, and her daughter, Mary Ann Marnell George, in 2000.
