Margarette 'Margie' J. Knickerbocker

Margarette (Margie) J. Knickerbocker lived a full life until she passed away on June 6, 2013, peacefully at home. She was born in Salem, Ohio, October 9, 1919, to Ralph and Margaret Coffee. After graduating high school in 1938, she worked as a secretary in the House of Representatives and the Senate, in the Ohio legislature. Margie was married in 1946, at a home ceremony, to Harold Knickerbocker, an Army and Air Force veteran. Harold enrolled at Ohio State University where Margie was employed by The Manhattan (A-bomb) Research Project at the Cryogenic Laboratory at Ohio State. After Hiroshima, she continued at Ohio State, on an Army project involving rocket motor fuel research. Margie worked at Ball State Teacher’s College as a secretary to the Dean, involved in the International Teacher’s Education Program. She enjoyed meeting and interacting with teachers from all over the world. She retired in 1980 from an accounting position in Indiana, and moved to Dewey, AZ, with her husband Hal and their only child, Tina. Margie was a member of the Professional Writers of Prescott for several years. Margie was preceded in death by her husband Harold, who died in January, 2011, and is survived by their only child, Tina.
