Margaret A. Lightner passed away at her home in Prescott Valley, Arizona on Friday
March 20, 2020. Margaret was born on May 11, 1936 in Fort Ripley, Minnesota to
Andrew and Katherine Perlinger.
Margaret graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd, MN. After graduation
Margaret moved to the Twin Cities area where she worked at a bank. She moved back to
Fort Ripley and married the love of her life, Larry (Bud) Lightner on June 11, 1955.
Shortly after the birth of their eldest son, Margaret and Bud moved to Winslow, Arizona
where they owned and operated a Union 76 service station and had 5 more children.
Upon the passing of Bud’s father, they moved back to the Brainerd area. Margaret
worked as a bookkeeper for many years and as a courier for the Brainerd Daily Dispatch.
After retirement Margaret and Bud moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona in 1999. Margaret
lived for her grandchildren, and spent a great amount of time with them and her children
playing cards and dice. It was her favorite past time.
Margaret is survived by her son’s Tim, Mark (Penny), and Larry all of Brainerd, MN and
daughters Mary, Tammy, and Bridget all of Prescott Valley, AZ, several grand children
and great grand children, brothers Larry (Mary) Perlinger, Gary (Gail) Perlinger, sisters
Ann (Fidales(Spike)) Namyst, Joan (Wally) Thesing, Clara Perlinger, and brother-in-law
Leo Gangestad, She is proceeded in death by her husband Larry (Bud), her parents
Andrew and Mary Katherine, sisters, Kathleen Gangestad and Elaine Doucette.
