Lucy ?Joy? Houghton Waddle, 86, passed away on May 6, 2010, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Billy Mack Waddle. Joy loved children, birds and flowers. She was an avid reader, an enthusiastic bridge player, and a faithful participant in the annual Audubon bird count. Her giggle was infectious. Born and raised in New Jersey, Joy attended Scripps College in California, then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked as a preschool teacher and an administrative assistant. In 1977, she and her husband Billy moved to Prescott, where Joy volunteered at Yavapai Regional Medical Center and Miller Valley Elementary School. She became active in the Philanthropic Education Organization Chapter BG and Prescott People Who Care. In addition, she faithfully served as a greeter and a Stephen Minister at Prescott United Methodist Church. Joy is survived by many family members and friends who will miss her deeply. These are stepchildren; Beverly McMurray of Albuquerque, N.M., William Waddle of Halifax, VA., and Michael Waddle of Winslow, AR., grandchildren; Kristin Sloboda and Heather Wellington, Michael and Melissa Waddle, great grandchildren; Ever Steven Sloboda and Ashley Wellington. Her nieces and nephews include Susie Burtch of Richmond, VA., Nancy Tindell of Colorado Springs, CO., Alan Thielemann of Atlanta, GA., Bruce Houghton of Snohomish, WA., Neil Houghton of Philadelphia, PA., and Anita Graybill of Franktown, CO.
