Lorraine was born July 7, 1932 in Lowell, MA the daughter of Louis and Jeannette (Letendre) Grandchamp. In 1942 her family moved to Hartford, CT and then back to Lowell, MA in 1945 after the war. She worked in her parents variety store for five years.

Lorraine graduated from parochial schools which laid the foundation for her faith.

She married the love of her life Edward L. Elfenbein on September 28, 1957. Lorraine was a civil service typist for 7 years. Lorraine also attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA where she obtained membership in Psi Beta, the national honors society for psychology which she majored in community college.

Lorraine volunteered for several Catholic organizations including schools and hospitals. She enjoyed oil painting, reading, camping, writing, singing, target shooting and listening to music. She also enjoyed cycling, hiking and distance running, and had participated in several half marathons. She hiked and saw the beauty of Gods world in the United States, Canada and Switzerland. Lorraine was a member of Societe Francaise de Prescott and volunteered in the dementia unit at the VA nursing home for four years.


Lorraine is survived by her husband Ed of Prescott, AZ and children Kurt Jon, Karl Lee, and Denise Ann. She is also survived by her sister; Colette (Joseph) Ross, as well as several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Dr. Gilbert Grandchamp.

A Celebration of Lorraines Life, Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott

The family suggests contributions be made in Lorraines name to the Northern Arizona V.A. Medical Center Volunteer Service Office, 500 N. HWY 89, Prescott, AZ 86313.
