Lois Lessard

Lois Ann Lessard, died April 19TH, 2008 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona. She was born July 26, 1924 in Los Angeles, California; the daughter of Frederick Bitler and Mae Veronica (Hill) Bradshaw. Lois was 83 years old.   Lois played a very important supportive part in her  family, often filling both parenting roles while her husband served his country in the United States Air Force. She loved the challenge and excitement of seeing different places and people, a love that served her in good stead as she lived in Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Germany, Texas, New York, Mississippi, Virginia, and Colorado, before settling down in Arizona, where she had grown up. Although her formal education only went as far as high school, Lois had an active and intuitive mind that continued to learn all of her life. She was an accomplished artist who worked not only in paint and canvas, but also in needle and thread and hook and yarn, creating many prized and treasured quilts and sewing projects. Lois was quite literally a HOME maker, designing the renovations to her family?s home with such care and precision that the contractors often called her the architect.   She was modest and devout but with strength and wisdom that carried her trough life with grace and elegance.   Lois is survived by her children; Kathleen and her husband Brent Casteel of Las Vegas, Nevada and Donna and her husband Tom Lindberg, of Prescott, Arizona, sister Betty and her husband Richard Clark of Phoenix; grandchildren; Amy and Daniel and great  grandchildren. Morgan and Jaina. Though she only gave birth to two children, she was a loving mother to many.   Private burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery   The family suggests memorials in her name to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 120 N. Summit, Prescott, Arizona 86301 or  AZ State Library, Archives & Public Records, Braille & Talking Book Library, 1003 N. 32nd St. Phoenix, AZ 8500-5195
