Lois C. Grosscup

Lois Emma Camit Grosscup   Born November 26, 1919 in Chicago Illinois to John Wilsney and Florence Grant CAMIT.  Graduated from Calumet HS with perfect grades and attended Cornell College, Mt Vernon Iowa for two years.  While working in the office of Wm Wrigley Jr office she met and later married Robert K Grosscup June 14, 1941 in Chicago.  They had two children, Sandra Gail (06/05/41), now a teacher in Dallas Texas, and Richard Knight (05/10/46), an accountant in Eugene Oregon.  The young family moved to Villa Park IL in 1954, and Lois & Bob to Prescott in 1979.  She worked in the Villa Park Library and was a homemaker.  She loved to read and travel, and enjoyed her three grandchildren immensely.  Her pen was the glue that held her extended family together.  Everyone loved Aunt Lois!  She lived for her family, her pets, and her books.  She treasured the American South West (especially Santa Fe), things Native American, and the community of Prescott.  Her favorite place in the world, outside of Prescott, was Venice Italy.  With Bob, or her travel companion Lucy Jane, she explored the four corners of the globe with intellectual curiosity, joy and companionship.  She had a wide range of friends locally based on shared interests and kindnesses.  She forever gave to those in need, so the reach of her offerings and grace were virtually boundless.  She had been a member of the Unity Church and was a member of the Church of Spiritual Living.  After a prolonged struggle with a respiratory ailment that increasingly curtailed her activities, she transitioned at home in her beloved husband?s arms February 17, 2006. At her request her ashes will be scattered on Granite Mountain, who smiled down on her every day. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. In lieu of donations the family asks that you read a book, preferably to a child, treasure your pets and love your family, each and every one, far and near.   A memorial celebration will be held 10 AM May 29, 2006 (Memorial Day) at the Church of Spiritual Living, 3755 Willow Creek Road, Prescott
