Lilly Sandige Miley

Lilly Bashkingy (Sandige) Miley's life began on March 13, 1932, in Patterson, New Jersey. She was the sixth child of nine, daughter to Norman and Jennie Bashkingy.

Lilly graduated from East Side High School when she was sixteen years old because she skipped first grade. She moved to Phoenix in 1949 to attend Good Samaritan School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. It was the same year when she married Dale Sandige and began her work as a nurse for eight years. Lilly began working with Dale at Sandige Realty in 1962, selling residential real estate until she suffered her first heart attack at the age of forty-eight. This event led her to take up oil painting, as well as move to Prescott in 1988. She and Dale divorced in 1991.

Two years later in 1993, Lilly married her heart's desire, Douglas Miley. She attended Community Bible Study in Prescott for thirty years with many people looking forward to her devotionals on forgiveness. Lilly and Doug belonged to various art groups; she enjoyed painting flowers and teaching art to many students.

Lilly's greatest joy was her family, which includes her husband, Doug; daughters Janet Moe (Dan) of Phoenix and Norma Donovan (John) of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Tyler Navarrette (Kay), Kyle Navarrette (Ashley), Lindsay Donovan, and David Donovan (Kelsey); and her great grandchildren: Luke, Henry, Wyatt, Harper, Averie, and Hannah.

When it came to serving the needs of others, Lilly's heart was eager to help. She was constantly baking and making meals to give away. She was so generous, often filling in as a mother figure for so many women in need. If you spent any time with Lilly, she likely shared her love of Jesus and her desire to spend eternity with him. She lived her life in service to Christ until the very end.

Lilly passed away on September 12, 2024, in Prescott, Arizona.
