Leo A. Venice

Leo Armando Bruno  Venice, 84 went to his final resting place on September 25th. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Rosa and Camillo Venziana. He graduated in 1941 from Overbrook High School and received a B. S. in Biology from Temple University in 1943. He then served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army?s 702nd Tank Battalion during battles and campaigns in Northern France, Germany, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received a Purple Heart for an injury sustained in Czechoslovakia. He also received a Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. After he recovered from his injury, he then graduated from Temple University with a degree of Doctor of Surgical Podiatry. Leo came to Arizona in 1950 and retired from the U.S. Health Dept. in 1982 as a Laboratory Technician under the auspices of CDC.   He is survived by his wife. Rita, sister, Gilda LaBrasca of Philadephia, sister-in-law Helen Sienerth of North Carolina, son, Randy Roethler and his wife, Nora, son Tim Roethler and his wife, Loretta and daughter, Paula Roethler, Also nephews: Doug, Greg and Karl Sienerth and their families, niece, Kathy Sinereth and her family. His many grandchildren are: Misty Dawn Roethler, Joshua Roethler and Sarah Shores, Bryan Roether and his wife, Tanya, Randi Leigh Heckadon and husband Bryan, Carrie Anne Roethler, Stephanie Roethler, Shawn Knight, Dan and Dawn Hammon, Danielle and Shane Persons, and Rosemary and Daniel Crellin and Dawn Gallagher. Great grandcildren who will miss his love and kindess are Marshall, Darion and Zachary Roethler, Lance, Trinity and Kristine Heckadon, Kyla Roethler, Isabella, Savanah, Danny and Autumn Hammon, Ashley, Christopher and Richard Persons, Gavin Crellin, Eli, Gage and Fate Atkinson, Alexis, Serena Dominic and Julia Shores. He will be missed greatly by his many friends.
