Ken, also known by family and friends as Nick, was born on July 28, 1943, in Leadville, CO to Kenneth and Merle Knock; he died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his home in Prescott. The family moved to Arcadia, CA while Ken was an infant and his father “Pop” joined the marines in WWII. They then moved to Duarte, CA where he and his brother Calvin grew up. Ken went to Duarte High School and then attended Citrus Junior College in Glendora, CA where he was interested in architecture and mechanics. At that time he also became passionate about nature photography and was a member of the wildlife photo club. He took many trips camping and photographing birds and wildlife with Calvin. After college Ken went to work in construction along with Pop and Calvin. He then joined the Operating Engineers Union eventually becoming a journeyman diesel mechanic, which was the career he continued until retirement. In addition to photography he pursued many creative and artistic hobbies such as metalworking and welding, jewelry making, stained glass, furniture making, ceramics, Japanese flower arranging or Ikebana and cooking. Eventually Ken moved to Arizona and lived and worked in Phoenix where he was a diesel mechanic for Cummins. It was there he met his future wife Debbie. Ken and Debbie were married in 1985 and Ken became stepdad to Debbie’s three-year-old daughter Chelsey. When Ken retired from Cummins in 1993 they moved to Prescott to be near family. Ken beautifully renovated their Prescott home and worked on other projects with his brother. He continued to create many works of art and was happiest when working on a project or creation. Ken also enjoyed movies, food and dining, art fairs, concerts, and traveling. Ken was an artist with a sensitive and passionate soul and a great sense of humor. He was a loyal, caring and protective husband, stepfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Debbie, stepdaughter and son-in-law Chelsey and Will Stuart, brother Calvin Knock and his wife Tonya, nephew Wyatt Knock, niece and spouse Gabrielle and Baptiste Cunin, sister-in-law Debbie Carr and nephew and spouse Matt and Jen Carr, and many others across the country. He is loved dearly and will be deeply missed.
