Julie Ann Walker, a long-time resident of Prescott, died on July 30 after a brief illness.
Julie retired to Prescott after a distinguished career in the California State College system. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church community famous for her cookouts attended by her many church friends as well as the priests of the parish.
The word "friend" best describes Julie Walker. She was extremely loyal to those who she called by that name and was recognized as the catalyst that kept the "sistah's" together. The sistah's, her closest friends, were bound by a love of God and each other. As her dearest friend, Debra Portzer stated at her funeral Mass, "Julie's greatest assets were her love, support, and compassion for others, reaching out to those in need, and giving of herself through her enjoyment of cooking and praying for others."
Julie donated her time and talent of cooking by starting a spaghetti western fundraiser to support Sacred Heart Catholic School, fed the homeless at Sacred Heart Church, at the Prescott Area Women's Shelter, and a women' retreat house. She facilitated a Cenacle of the Marian Movement of Priests at her home and was a devoted prayer warrior participant on two telephone prayer groups.
Julie is survived by her son, Brian, of Tucson, and her brother, Robert, of Greenwich, CT. and Boston.
