John Luther Nye passed way February 22, 2023, in Prescott, Arizona.
John was born August 26,1935, to Luther Nye and Victoria Jutelus in Okemah, Oklahoma. He was an only child and his father passed when he was 2 months old. He was raised by his mother in a small town in Divernon, Illinois.
John married Anita Carol Nye of Temple Hill, Kentucky, in 1954 in Pawnee, Illinois. His early career included working in the oil fields of Louisiana and at Allis Chambers in Illinois. He moved his family to Phoenix, AZ in 1964, where he worked at P.B.S.W., an office supply company. After P.B.S.W. closed, he spent many years as a buyer at Southwest Forest. He eventually went into real-estate sales in Prescott, AZ, where he settled down and stayed until his passing.
John was active in sports; he enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball, and loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns. He also loved drive-in movies, traveling, and online poker. He gave his life to Jesus in 1950 and served the Lord as a Deacon in his church.
John had three children, Pamelia, James, and John Jr., and lived a full life until his passing at age 87. He is survived by his sons, James and John Jr.; daughters-in-law, Betty and Jenny; grandchildren, Tanya, Danielle, Apreel, Dustin, David, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren, Passion, Cody, Cameron, Tyson, and Avery.
He loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
