John 'Jack' Frederick Lovell

John 'Jack' Frederick Lovell passed away on the afternoon of April 5th, at the facility of Hospice Family care in Prescott, Arizona, he was 85 years old. Jack was born in Monticello, NY. Jack was a fun loving man. He was very strong willed but had a big heart. Jack loved golf, all sports, hunting and fishing, flying, but mostly landing, and he loved to sing, especially with his brother Joe. Jack started working for NY State Electric & Gas Company as a lineman. He was out on a golf course when he received the offer to come down off the poles and to work in an office. He didn't know anything about aviation insurance at the time, but he was a hard worker and willing to learn. He started with United States Aviation Insurance Underwriters Group in 1953 and he worked his way up through USAIG starting as an Underwriter in the New York office and going to night school and completing 2 years of college. Jack retired as a Vice President in charge of the Western Division out of Denver Colorado. Jack became a realtor when he retired from USAIG. He started Century 21 San Tan Realty with his wife Nomer in Sun Lakes AZ. When he moved up to Prescott, he worked for Crystal Creek Realty, Inc. He was a member of the Deposit (NY) Fire Department for 3 years, Hancock (NY) Fire Department for 5 years and River Edge (NJ) Fire Department for 10 years. He was Fire Chief in 1969 for the River Edge Fire Department. He was also Fire Chief of Tribor 3 City (Oradell, New Milford and River Edge) Fire Departments. He was a member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge #552 since 1954, National Pilots Association, National Business Aviation Association, Airport Operators Council, American Helicopter Society. He was the second person elected to serve on the board of directors for the American Helicopter Society as representative of the aviation insurance industry. Jack was member of the Fixed Base Operators Association and a member of the Prescott United Methodist Church. Jack is preceded in death by his daughter Terry Jo, his parents Melvern and Lucretia Lovell, his sister Claire Ward, and his wife Evelyn 'Nomer' Lovell. Jack is survived by his long time companion Marilyn Day, his brother Joe and wife Norma Lovell, his son Craig and wife Connie Lovell, his daughters Jacqueline (Dale) Thornton, Valerie (Greg) Elsea, his stepson Dennis (Ileana) Nebera, his grandchildren Amanda (Josh), Brad, Kara, Jillian, Charlene and Meghan (John). He also has 2 great-grandchildren Gabriel and Alyssa, and many nieces and nephews.
