John Ell Marshall, 87, passed away at home in Prescott on July 20, 2009. He was born in Celeste, Texas on April 15, 1922 to J.E. and Ella Mae Glasscock (Marshall). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, J.W. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marion (Mimi); daughter, Michele of California; son, Michael of Oregon; and grandchildren, Natalie, David and Dominic. As well, he leaves behind sisters, Lillie and Elizabeth; brothers, Bill and Charles; nieces and nephews, along with many friends. John served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a ball turret gunner on a B-17, flying 30 missions over Germany. After the war, he moved back to southern California, where he spent over 40 years working in the dairy industry. John's many interests in life included his family and friends, sports, gardening, horseracing, bird tending, history and traveling. Through the course of their marriage, he and his wife enjoyed many trips to various countries. John was easy-going and affectionate, and was a loving presence in the lives of his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was particularly known for his humorous, real-life accounts of his adventures. John's storytelling will be missed by all. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire hospice team.
