John W. Angel passed away on December 21, 2024, at the age of 82 at the VA Hospital in
Prescott, Arizona after battling cancer.
John was born on May 8, 1942 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, John
enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. He
was proud of his military service and enjoyed his time spent overseas. Following his
discharge, he returned to Rockford, Illinois and later relocated to Arizona where he lived
and worked. He built the family home and was in the electrical contracting business until
his retirement.
John was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and member of Aztlan Lodge #1 and member of
OES. He spent many years working with the DeMolay and International Order of the
Rainbow for Girls. He loved being a Rainbow Dad. He was active in the Boy Scouts of
America with his son. John loved fishing and the outdoors and spent many hours at Alamo
Lake.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd (Bud) Angel and Geraldine Angel and his
brother, David Angel. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law April and James Wilson,
and son and daughter-in-law Josh and Karen Angel, grandchildren, Breanna, Kyla, & Ty, and
his former wife Shirley.
John and his family can rest easy knowing that he was strong to the end, lived a full and
complete life and met his death head-on, like the brave man he was. There will be a
celebration of John's life in the spring of 2026 at Alamo Lake. Please contact the family for details.
