Joan Louise Meyers was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She died peacefully in her sleep on August 21, 2023 at the age of 74.
Joan was born in Sunbury, PA, on April 21, 1949 to Robert and Nancy Brownwell, who both preceded her in death, along with her eldest sister, Linda Brownwell. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Meyers; her brother Robert (Bernadette) Brownwell; her sisters Edna (Paul) Harmon and Kathryn (Pete}Mitch; her daughters Ada (Chad) Ellingson and Faye (Ryan) Eisenhauer; her 5 grandchildren (Tyler, Joseph, Zack, Ally, Ella); and 4 great grandchildren (Delilah, Lily, Sara, Thomson). In addition, many nephews and nieces scattered around the U.S.
Joan was a veteran of the United States Air Force where she proudly served as a Paralegal for six years. After she separated from the military, she worked at Travis Air Force Base, California, for many years primarily at David Grant Medical Center as a Secretary in Department of Surgery. Joan loved her work and was so thankful to work with so many that became lifelong friends.
Her last 22 years, she resided in Prescott, Arizona, where she retired to spend time with her children and travel. The simplest pleasures in life brought Joan great joy: quiet evenings with her family or listening to her favorite music. During the spring-time, she would enjoy sitting on the porch when there was a gentle breeze listening to her wind chimes or watching for the occasional hummingbird fly by. She loved to laugh and play card games, often winning. And we can never forget her lifelong dedication to her Pittsburgh Steelers - we tried to forget, we really did.
At Joan Meyers request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to your local Veterans Organization
