Jimmie L. Legg

Jimmie L. Legg, 77, passed peacefully at home in Prescott Valley, Arizona on May 20, 2013. He was born October 21, 1935 in Enid, OK to Wayne and Virginia Legg, who preceded him in death. Jimmie served in the US Army for four years. He then met his life partner Sue, and they were married in Thurman, IA on March 26, 1960. They lived in Council Bluffs, IA for 12 years before moving to Brunswick, OH. Two years later they relocated to Las Vegas, NV and lived there until Jimmie retired from United Airlines after 38 years as an aircraft mechanic. They then moved to Pahrump, NV for 8 years, Shenandoah, IA for 4 years, and finally to Prescott Valley for the past 2½ years. Jimmie was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for 35 years and was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Pahrump Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Shenandoah Lodge #1122 and an associate member of the Prescott Lodge #330 and Pahrump Lodge #2796. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association since 1989, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3600, an associate member of the Korean War Veterans Association, and a member of the Tall Pines Chapter of Retired United Airlines Employees Association. Jimmie and Sue spent much of their free time traveling, fishing, and camping. They enjoyed sitting around the campfire at their Dust Devil RV Club campouts and participating in “hangar talk” at the airport in Pahrump. Jimmie was an ultra light pilot and loved the desert. Both he and Sue spent several years on the pit crew of an off-road racing team while living in Vegas. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 53 years Sue Sheldon Legg; son Alan Legg of Bullhead City, AZ; daughter Kristine (David) Gray of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren Sheena, Rhiannon, Tyler, and Jonathan; great-grandchildren Leilah, Jordan, Jayden, and Aurora; brother Charles (Betty) Legg of Council Bluffs, IA; and sister Virgie (Richard) Bachelder of Tulsa, OK. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs of Hospice Compassus, Tender Hearts, and the Prescott Valley Fire Department for their kind and compassionate care.
