Jewell Ellis Hurt, age 87, died Wednesday April 30, 2008 at Prescott, Arizona.  Jewell was born October 25, 1920 in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of William Calvin and Ruth Jones Ellis.  Jewell attended many schools in and around Trenton, graduating from Trenton High School, class of 1939.   Jewell worked for the Service Laundry, Chamber of Commerce (twice) and Unionville Production Credit Association in Trenton.  She also worked for The War Department, Quartermaster Depot in Kansas City.   Jewell was married May 3, 1941 to Gerald ?Dee? Hurt at the parsonage of The Assembly of God Church in Trenton.   In 1946, with their nine month old son, Jerry Dee, they moved to Willow Ranch, California, where Jewell became Postmistress.  Their daughter, Barbara, was born in 1949 in Lakeview, Oregon.   The family moved to Arcata, California and Jewell worked for 25 ½ years for the Division of Highways in Eureka, California, retiring in 1981.   Jewell is survived by her daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Cloyd Taylor of Paulden, Arizona; grandchildren Laura Tyree, Angela Miller and Lorne C. Hurt; great-grandchildren Kaylene and Branden Hurt and LynneDell Burke; sister Garnett Hurlburt; and many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald ?Dee? Hurt in 1986 and her son Jerry Dee in 1970; her sisters Mary Alice Jackson, Doris Maxwell, Cora Jane Smith and Ruby Freeman.   Burial will be in the Garden of Prayer at Ocean View Cemetery in Eureka, California.   Memorial contributions may be sent to the Trenton High School Alumni Association at PO Box 185, Trenton, MO 64683 or to the charity of your choice.
