Jerry Glenn Carter died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Family Hospice Care, the Crossings, in Prescott, Arizona. He was born March 5, 1939 in McAlpin, West Virginia; the son of Glenn and Pauline (Floyd) Carter. Jerry was 70 years old. Jerry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, WV. He joined the Air Force in December 1957 and was with the 1st Combat Evaluation Group (SAC). During part of his tour of duty, he was in Africa. Jerry was honorably discharged in October 1962, while in Louisiana and had attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class. Jerry was a talented musician and played many different instruments, but the bass guitar was his preference. He recorded with "A Group Called Smith" and had recieved a gold record. One of the most famous songs from this album was "Baby It's You." For the last three years Jerry has been living in Arizona. He is survived by his son Jered Alan Carter of Oregon, and daughters; Jerri Monique Barney of Utah, Lisa of WV, Rhonda of Australia, and also Terri of Australia, his mother Mrs. Pauline Rand of Beckley, WV, sister Peggy Holiday of WV and two step-sisters; Kyra Pease of Paulden, AZ and Carolyn Boggs of Riverside, CA.
