Jasper Wayne Starkey

Jasper Wayne Starkey, 78, Prescott, Arizona, passed away January 20, 2014 of Parkinson’s disease triggered by Agent Orange exposure during two tours of duty in Vietnam. Born in Marquand, Missouri on April 27, 1935 Wayne joined the US Air Force in 1954. After 23 years of proud service, he retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Wayne later retired as the Manager of Custodial/Grounds Services for Scottsdale School District. A VA Medical Center volunteer, he helped install the traveling Vietnam Memorial, as well as in many other capacities. Wayne is survived by Dee Starkey, his wife of 57 years; daughter Sherri Starkey; granddaughter Katherine Burke; sisters Dora Copeland and Henny Crook; brothers Joe Starkey, Jimmy Starkey, and Larry Copeland; and other family and friends. Wayne’s family wishes to thank the staff of Pine View Adult Care Home for their loving care and kindness in his time of need.
