After retirement in 1974, she and her husband Al moved to Prescott. One of Jan\'s passions was gardening, and she once received a thank you letter from Sunset Magazine for suggestions and tips in a gardening contest. Jan was a volunteer for various City entities and also donated her hand- made corn husk dolls to the Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, which were sold in its gift shop.Jan had a sense of humor, and when asked to what she attributed her longevity, she remarked, \"only the good die young\".
