James Mendoza Carbajal, 73, was born in Bisbee, Ariz., on Feb. 14, 1944 to Jose Carbajal and Juanita Mendoza.
He served in the US Army for two years. He lived in Bisbee, AZ until 1970 when he went to Bagdad, AZ to work in the Bagdad mine. James died peacefully at home with loved ones at his side during his sleep.
He volunteered at the St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. He was active in volunteering with the Bagdad Knights of Columbus and the Bagdad American Legion.He enjoyed watching the grandsons play sports. Also, he really enjoyed playing BINGO especially with his sister-in-law Diane.James is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Juanita Carbajal; his first wife Bonnie; three brothers—Louis, Alberto, and Ricardo Carbajal; sister Esther Trujillo; stepson Patrick Hernandez. Survived by his wife Marie Carbajal, his son James Carbajal; his daughters Monica (Michael) Loveall and Lori (Semisi) Tuipulotu; stepsons Jon (Jen) Hernandez and Adam Hernandez; four brothers— Lorenzo (Barbara), Domingo, Everett (Ramona) and Eduardo (Gloria) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Grandchildren are Joe (Mayra), Mike, Zachary (Lydia), James, Olivia, Benjamin, and Israel.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home on the corner of Cortez and Carleton streets in Prescott and a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Celebration of James's Life Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Chino Valley. Final Commendations will take place at a later date in Bisbee, AZ.
James's family suggests memorial contributions be made in James's name to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church or to Prescott Adult Center (BINGO).
Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with Patrick's final arrangements.
