James Alfred (Jim) Steinke finished his earthly journey on April 3, 2015. He was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is survived by Myra, his wife of 62 years, and by three nieces and two nephews. Jim was employed by the Allis-Chalmers farm machinery company in West Allis, Wisconsin for over 45 years. Jim and Myra moved to Prescott in 1992, and enjoyed their home near Granite Mountain. Jim loved the outdoors and walked the trails in the area almost daily. He was an active member of the local archeological society and took pride and pleasure in the digs. He took a large number of courses in geology at Yavapai College and went on numerous field trips throughout the Southwest with his classmates. The history channel was one of his favorite TV stations. He will be missed by his numerous friends that he met along the trails during his life's journey.

There will be a memorial gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 18, 2015, at Jim and Myra's home.
