Jack Harry Coey

Jack Harry Coey, age 82, quietly passed away in his sleep in Prescott, Arizona on the fifteenth of February 2015. Born May 15, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Jack and Blanche Coey, he spent many wonderful years in Piedmont, California. At just thirteen years old, Jack met his sweetheart, Patricia Irene Rogers, whom he later married August 15, 1953. They were married for 61 years and together for almost 70 years. Jack loved football; he played through Piedmont High School, at the University of the Pacific, and when drafted in the Korean War. He also coached for the ‘Little Raiders’ and passed the tradition down to his sons, Bob and Jack, who both played at Piedmont wearing their father’s number “60”. Jack had a successful career working for Pacific Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company for 28 years, and dedicated a portion of his life to the community of Piedmont, working as a reserve Lieutenant Policeman. Jack continued to work into his late seventies and only recently retired from working as a Security Officer at Yavapai College in Arizona. Outside of his career, Jack enjoyed fishing and camping, and leather and woodworking in his later years. Jack is survived by his wife, Patty, in Dewey, Arizona; his eldest son Jack Coey Junior of Cave Creek, Arizona; his younger son Bob Coey of Healdsburg, California; and his daughter Penny Irene Coey of Newcastle, California. He is also survived by five grandchildren Jack, Jarrod, Kelli, Caitlin, and Sean; and also great grandson Jameson. He was preceded in death only by his parents and grandparents.

Cemetery:
Jack’s family and friends will gather this spring in his hometown, Piedmont to celebrate his life. His ashes will be laid to rest in the Feather River Canyon.
