Iona Bernice Anderson

Iona died on December 25, 2020 at the age of 96.  She was born to Oscar and Rufina Ruehling in Altenburg Missouri on September 20 1924.  When she was in her teens she moved to St. Louis, MO where she spent most of her life.  She was the oldest of her siblings; after her came Dillman Ruehling then Doris Verseman. 

Iona married Clarence Anderson (deceased) on 12/31/1943.  They were married for 59 years and had four children together.  They are Joyce Lofton (Charles)   Susan Johnston (Michael Dale)   Dale Anderson (Elizabeth deceased)  Gay Saladino (Mark).

For many years Iona worked at Thermo-Jac where she perfected her skill as a seamstress.  Iona also was a self taught artist.  She was never afraid of trying different scenes and experimenting with oil paint.  She had a natural eye for color. 

Iona also had many other interests.  She loved traveling and gardening and spending time with her family, which included her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

One thing we will always remember about her was she was always happy and full of interesting stories.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
